Exploring Eyeglass Frame Styles

Hi there, my name is Becky Lillaup. I am crazy about all of the different styles of eyeglass frames available today. Eyeglasses are the ultimate accessory to keep on hand at all times. My less than perfect vision ensures I always get to wear glasses with my favorite outfits. I also keep prescription sunglasses on hand for especially cloudy or sunny days. I will talk about all of the frame styles that have been popular over the years. I will also talk about different styles that have come back into fashion recently. My favorites are cat eye and oval frames. I hope to help you find your favorites as well. Thank you for visiting my website. Be sure to come back soon.

Repairing Your Frames Until You Can Have Them Properly Repaired

Blog

If you wear prescription glasses, then you can already imagine how inconvenient--and possibly even horrible--it would be to have them break on you. The frames of glasses are generally designed to be worn for a long time without breaking. However, they do have their weaknesses and sometimes things happen that put too much stress on them and cause them to snap. Or sometimes those nearly invisible screws can pop out. If they do, you may have a hard time finding them. If you wear glasses, it's a good idea to read this article so that you can learn both tips for preventing issues and tips for temporarily taking care of repairs yourself. After all, you'll want to have your glasses fixed enough so that you can at least wear them until you can get them professionally repaired.

Be prepared with an eyeglass repair kit

If you do wear prescription glasses, then get yourself an eyeglass repair kit. It will have a very tiny screwdriver and possibly screws to fit in glasses. These things will probably be in a very small plastic case that keeps everything together. You should put this kit in the glove compartment of your car so that you have access to it no matter where you are.

It's smart to take the tiny screwdriver and very gently try the screws on your glasses once in a while to make sure they don't easily move. If they do, then you want to tighten the screws so you don't lose them. If you screw them in more than once due to them being loose, then you may want to replace the screws with ones from the kit. The small screws are more fragile than larger screws and can get stripped extremely easily.

Know when to use super glue

If your frame breaks, you may be able to use super glue to fix it. Try to avoid using super glue in areas where the glue would possibly get on the lenses. If super glue gets on the lenses, it can cause them to become scratched when you try to get the glue off. If you use super glue to fix an arm, do NOT put your glasses on until they are 100% dry!

Know when to use tape

You can use clear scotch tape to fix your glasses. You want to make sure that the tape will hold well enough that you won't have to worry about a lens popping out and falling to the ground, where it can get very scratched.

Have your glasses fixed correctly as soon as you can

As soon as you can get your glasses fixed the right way, you should. Otherwise, you risk them breaking again. When that happens, other areas can get damaged as well. Look for an optician office like Southern  Colorado Eye Care Associates that can help you with all of your eye care treatment and repair needs.
