Exploring Eyeglass Frame Styles

Hi there, my name is Becky Lillaup. I am crazy about all of the different styles of eyeglass frames available today. Eyeglasses are the ultimate accessory to keep on hand at all times. My less than perfect vision ensures I always get to wear glasses with my favorite outfits. I also keep prescription sunglasses on hand for especially cloudy or sunny days. I will talk about all of the frame styles that have been popular over the years. I will also talk about different styles that have come back into fashion recently. My favorites are cat eye and oval frames. I hope to help you find your favorites as well. Thank you for visiting my website. Be sure to come back soon.

3 Interesting Facts About Cataracts

Blog

Your optometrist will examine your vision to determine if you need glasses or contacts, but these exams are also beneficial for your underlying eye health. Even though you may not have actual symptoms, certain conditions may be affecting your optical health and vision. An estimated 20.5 million people have cataracts. However, most people are not really familiar with this common eye disorder. Here are a few interesting facts you need to know regarding cataracts.

Cloudiness Is a Main Symptom

First and foremost, you should understand how cataracts develop. This will require understanding the different parts of the eye.

The lens is one of the most important parts of the eye because it focuses images and lights onto your retina. Over time, proteins can build up on the lens, causing cloudiness over the lens. This affects your vision, making you see cloudy spots.

But, There Is More

Unfortunately, the cloudiness is not the only symptoms. Individuals with cataracts may notice other symptoms, as well. Here are a few more symptoms of cataracts:

  • Haloed vision – Halo of light around bright objects
  • Doubled Vision – Seeing two or more of objects
  • Poor Night Vision – Seeing things at night or in the dark will be difficult
  • Color Blindness – Inability to see certain colors, colors may appear bland and dull

Also, many people who develop cataracts will have constant changes in their vision correction.

It's Ok, Help Is Available

If you or a family member have been diagnosed with cataracts, do not panic because help is available.

Annual eye exams can help detect cataracts early. If detected in an early stage, vision correction with glasses or contacts may help restore the eye back to a healthy, functional state.

Unfortunately, many patients with cataracts suffer from vision issues due to these cataracts. The vision issues may be so severe that they affect their daily life. In these instances, a more involved treatment will be recommended.

Phacoemulsification is one of the most common procedures used to remove cataracts from the eye. Also known as Phaco, this procedure uses ultrasound technology to break down the cataracts before removing them from the eye.

A small incision must be made in the cornea, which allows your doctor to remove the fragments of the cataracts.

Living with cataracts is possible, but the vision impairment can cause physical and emotional distress. Consider talking with an eye doctor, such as at Olympia Eye Clinic, Inc., P.S., about routine exams to ensure you are not developing cataracts.
